O Instituto Terra assinou novo convênio com a Prefeitura Municipal de Colatina para promover mensalmente a transferência de tecnologia de produção agropecuária sustentável para 15 pequenos e médios produtores de leite do município, em especial os estabelecidos em unidades rurais de baixa produtividade, baixa rentabilidade e de estrutura produtiva familiar.
Essas unidades rurais vão se constituir em Unidades Demonstrativas (propriedades modelo), servindo de exemplo para outros produtores da região, principalmente mostrando como é possível obter ganhos produtivos ao se adotar práticas mais sustentáveis em relação ao meio ambiente.
Apesar do potencial do Espírito Santo na área de pecuária, a produção e produtividade de leite são afetadas principalmente por fatores como unidades rurais com pastagens degradadas, manejos reprodutivos e nutricionais deficientes, falta de informação tecnológica, baixo potencial genético dos rebanhos e a não adoção de práticas associativistas junto com o desconhecimento do custo de produção e de técnicas de gestão.
Além disso, a maioria das propriedades dedicadas à pecuária leiteira no Estado caracteriza-se pelo sistema extensivo e extrativista, o que não é diferente no município de Colatina. Soma-se a esse quadro, um regime hídrico irregular, animais pouco produtivos, baixa fertilidade dos solos e predominância de ordenha manual em condições higiênicas insatisfatórias, afetando em muito a qualidade do leite.
Para estabelecer esse elo entre produção e conservação dos recursos naturais, técnicos do Instituto Terra vão prestar assistência técnica aos pequenos produtores cadastrados no projeto, visando implantar o Programa “Mais Leite”. Esse programa prevê o desenvolvimento da pecuária leiteira em propriedades familiares na região Norte do Espírito Santo, adotando a mesma metodologia do Programa Balde Cheio da Empresa Brasileira de Pesquisa Agropecuária – Embrapa Pecuária Sudeste de São Carlos (SP).
Além da assistência técnica, os produtores cadastrados também vão realizar visitas às instalações do Instituto Terra, para participar de palestras, conhecer o viveiro de mudas nativas, a área reflorestada e o laboratório de sementes. “O que pretendemos com essa vivência é levar um pouco de conhecimento prático de que é possível restabelecer áreas de Mata Atlântica nas propriedades rurais, promovendo melhorias no solo e nos recursos hídricos. E mais que as atividades de capacitação através de palestras, os produtores terão o acompanhamento técnico durante as atividades de visitação”, explica o analista de projetos do Instituto Terra, Gilson Gomes de Oliveira Júnior.
