Parceria viabiliza adequação ambiental para 240 pequenas propriedades do Médio Rio Doce
Duzentos e quarenta pequenas propriedades rurais estabelecidas no Vale do Rio Doce terão a oportunidade de contar, em breve, com um plano de adequação ambiental que possibilite desenvolver melhores índices de produtividade e ao mesmo tempo promover a conservação dos ecossistemas. A iniciativa é fruto de uma parceria entre o Instituto Terra e a Fundação Banco do Brasil, dentro do projeto Adequação Ambiental de Propriedades, estabelecido em dezembro de 2010.
As ações previstas serão desenvolvidas até dezembro deste ano e vão permitir obter um diagnóstico da situação atual do uso e ocupação do solo nessas propriedades, bem como elaborar um prognóstico de uso futuro. Técnicos do Instituto Terra já iniciaram os levantamentos, que vão envolver, ao todo, 120 propriedades no Leste de Minas Gerais (Conselheiro Pena e Aimorés) e outras 120 em Colatina (município no Estado do Espírito Santo).
Os levantamentos abordam medição da área total, medição das áreas de reserva legal e APP’s, número de nascentes e as culturas existentes em cada propriedade. De posse desse estudo de zoneamento físico-ambiental, será possível elaborar um modelo de adequação ambiental, associado à atividade produtiva desenvolvida, que poderá servir de base para outras propriedades da região. Através desse efeito multiplicador, a meta é atingir uma área territorial de 1.428.800 hectares, envolvendo uma população estimada de 380.656 habitantes e 22.368 propriedades rurais.
Entre seus objetivos, o projeto visa promover uma nova consciência ambiental entre os produtores envolvidos, permitindo o estabelecimento de ações que ajudem a reduzir os impactos causados pelo desmatamento e desenvolvendo um modelo de produção economicamente viável, socialmente justo e ambientalmente sustentável. Em seu objetivo maior, o projeto visa ampliar as áreas de conservação e uso sustentável da biodiversidade da Mata Atlântica no Médio Rio Doce.
No Município de Colatina, o Instituto Terra conta com o apoio de vários parceiros na mobilização e identificação dos proprietários – Incaper, Secretaria de Agricultura do Município de Colatina, agência local do Banco do Brasil, Superintendência do Banco Brasil no Espírito Santo e a Associação de Produtores do Córrego São João Pequeno.
