Instituto Terra has just launched its new website, an initiative made possible with the support of the Semente public notice, a program run by the Minas Gerais Public Prosecutor’s Office in partnership with CeMAIS. The new platform presents the public with a complete overview of the work carried out by the Institute in ecological restoration, environmental education and sustainable development, with accessible language, intuitive navigation and an unprecedented collection of images taken by Sebastião Salgado.
The aim of the website redesign is to broaden the reach of information about Instituto Terra’s programs, connecting its audiences in a more direct, transparent and up-to-date way. The structure has been redesigned to make it easier to understand the work in the territory, with pages dedicated to the history, programs, reports and priority thematic areas: forest, water, soil, fauna and people.
Among the highlights of the new site is a gallery with unpublished photographs by Sebastião Salgado, taken between 2022 and 2023 on one of his last photographic expeditions. The images cover the complete restoration cycle, from seed collection to reforested areas, revealing the beauty and complexity of the work carried out by Instituto Terra over 26 years.
As well as making the institutional history visible, the new site also offers tools to strengthen engagement networks. One of the highlights is the page dedicated to ecosystem restoration. By facilitating contact with mobilizers and clarifying the role of native seeds in ecological restoration, the website expands the Institute’s capacity to form new partnerships with rural properties and communities.
The construction of the new platform is part of a series of actions supported by the Semente public notice, created to boost socio-environmental projects through the qualified allocation of environmental compensation measures.
The partnership with the Semente public notice also reinforces the importance of coordination between the third sector, public authorities and civil society in promoting the right to an ecologically balanced environment. In this sense, the site is not just a showcase, but a tool for mobilization, education and institutional strengthening.
By making this new digital space public, Instituto Terra is reaffirming its mission to stimulate sustainable development by restoring forests and enhancing biodiversity. The initiative aims to inspire more people, institutions and territories to get involved in building a more resilient future.
Visit the new website, explore Sebastião Salgado’s never-before-seen images, get to know the programs and find out how you can be part of this moving story.
