Instituto Terra promove adequação ambiental em 200 propriedades do Médio Rio Doce
Mapeamento das unidades rurais vai garantir adesão de produtores ao programa Bolsa Verde do Governo de Minas Gerais
O Instituto Terra iniciou novas ações para recuperação da Mata Atlântica em Minas Gerais, na região do Médio Rio Doce, a partir de um novo convênio estabelecido com o Instituto Estadual de Florestas, através da Secretaria de Estado de Meio Ambiente e Desenvolvimento Sustentável de Minas Gerais.
Neste sentido, desde abril, 12 técnicos do Instituto Terra estão realizando visitas de campo para o cadastramento de 200 pequenos produtores rurais do médio Rio Doce, visando integrá-los ao programa Bolsa Verde. O Bolsa Verde é uma iniciativa do Governo de Minas Gerais, que visa apoiar a conservação da cobertura vegetal nativa no Estado, mediante pagamento por serviços ambientais. Serão beneficiados proprietários e posseiros que já preservam ou que se comprometam a recuperar a vegetação de origem nativa em suas propriedades ou posses.
Os municípios atendidos neste primeiro momento são Governador Valadares, Conselheiro Pena, Mantena, Taparuba, Ipanema, Resplendor, Mutum, Pocrane, Aimorés, Itueta e Santa Rita do Itueto.
Para efetivar essa adesão do pequeno produtor, o Instituto Terra vai elaborar relatórios descritivos sobre as condições atuais de ocupação do solo nestas propriedades, bem como vai apresentar um relatório propositivo de adequação ambiental do uso futuro, baseado no código florestal. Estima-se, como essa iniciativa, promover a adequação em 1.600 hectares de área.
Além disso, o projeto prevê também o monitoramento das áreas em que, anteriormente, foram implementadas ações de restauração florestal na região, por ocasião de outro projeto desenvolvido pelo Instituto Terra em parceria com o IEF/Semad, com recursos do ITTO. Esse monitoramento vai permitir estabelecer as novas ações necessárias para sua manutenção, mediante atividades tais como replantios, coroamentos, roçadas e enriquecimento nas área já reflorestadas.
Iniciado em abril de 2012, o novo convênio com o IEF/Semad tem prazo de execução de 13 meses.
