Entre os principais entraves para a expansão de ações de reflorestamento de áreas degradadas no Brasil está a oferta adequada de mudas de espécies nativas. Um problema que deve aumentar diante das necessidades de adequação ambiental impostas aos proprietários rurais pelo novo Código Florestal.
Com o objetivo de ajudar a suprir essa lacuna, o Instituto Terra lançou o Portal Semear (www.portalsemear.org), primeiro banco de dados on-line do Brasil que reúne informações sobre todo o processo de produção de mudas florestais a partir da semente. O projeto se tornou possível com o apoio do Banco Nacional de Desenvolvimento Econômico e Social – BNDES, através da iniciativa BNDES Mata Atlântica.
Mais que produzir mudas, para reflorestar com sucesso é preciso plantar a espécie certa de acordo com o tipo de solo, condições climáticas, relevo, altitude, entre outros fatores ambientais e ecológicos. “O Portal Semear é uma iniciativa pioneira considerando a produção de mudas para reflorestamento em áreas degradadas, que exige vasto conhecimento sobre a fisiologia das sementes e de suas especificidades, principalmente quando se trata de Mata Atlântica, dado ao grande número de espécies ocorrentes nesse bioma”, destaca o engenheiro ambiental Jaeder Lopes Vieira, responsável técnico pela supervisão do portal.
O banco de dados já reúne documentação técnica de 80 espécies nativas de Mata Atlântica, com o passo a passo para a produção de mudas com sucesso. Mas o objetivo é cadastrar todas as 297 espécies já produzidas no viveiro do Instituto Terra. “E com a contribuição de outros parceiros pretendemos atingir a maior diversidade possível disponível na natureza, inclusive de outros biomas”, explica Jaeder Lopes.
São informações que o Instituto Terra pesquisou e organizou ao longo dos últimos 15 anos, a partir de toda a experiência obtida com o viveiro de nativas que mantém na RPPN Fazenda Bulcão e que já forneceu mais de 4,5 milhões de mudas para os projetos de reflorestamento de Mata Atlântica que desenvolve na região do Vale do Rio Doce.
A estrutura do Portal Semear foi desenvolvida no modelo de “enciclopédia online”, permitindo a colaboração para o conteúdo técnico ali exposto. “Não se tem notícia de nenhuma ferramenta comparável a essa, tanto em relação ao tipo de informação que oferece quanto à gratuidade do acesso e, principalmente, aos aspectos colaborativos e interface com usuário”, acrescenta o superintendente Executivo do Instituto Terra, Adonai Lacruz.
Ao ter acesso facilitado a essas informações, os profissionais da área de Ciências da terra, viveiristas, proprietários rurais, entre outros, terão mais tranquilidade para produzir as próprias mudas para as ações de reflorestamento, reduzindo custos da aquisição e garantindo maior sucesso nos plantios para regeneração de áreas degradadas.
