O Instituto Terra está perto de concluir a capacitação da 11º turma do curso pós-técnico em restauração ecossistêmica, com especial foco em áreas degradadas de Mata Atlântica. O curso é anual e oferecido gratuitamente, sendo que neste ano de 2015 contou com o apoio da Vale e da Fundação Aperam Acesita para sua realização.
Os 20 alunos em formação tiveram a oportunidade de participar de 1.700 horas/aula, incluindo além dos conhecimentos técnicos, principalmente atividades de campo envolvendo produção de mudas nativas de Mata Atlântica, reflorestamento de APPs e de Reservas Legais, proteção de nascentes e assistência técnica direta a pequenos produtores rurais, entre outras ações.
A aluna Juliana Aparecida Salarini Miranda ressalta que essa oportunidade de aprender na prática é o grande diferencial do curso. “Isso torna mais concreto o que deve ser compreendido por nós, alunos. E em todos os momentos e em todas as aulas temos cada vez mais certeza de que é isso que vamos querer fazer da vida, porque o futuro da humanidade está em nossas atitudes”.
Os alunos participantes ficam hospedados no Núcleo de Estudos em Restauração Ecossistêmica (NERE), uma estrutura própria na RPPN Fazenda Bulcão, a sede do Instituto Terra em Aimorés-MG. Além de alojamento e alimentação, cada aluno recebe ainda uma ajuda de custo mensal durante o período de formação.
A capacitação é voltada para técnicos agrícolas, agropecuários, florestais e de meio ambiente recém-formados, que após concluir a formação poderão atuar junto à comunidade rural, ajudando a disseminar um modelo de produção agropecuária mais sustentável. Para isso, a formação teórica e prática dos alunos envolve desde conhecimentos de Educação Ambiental e formação de brigadas para combate a incêndios florestais, até a implantação de viveiros para produção de mudas da Mata Atlântica, bem como sobre apicultura, monitoramento da cobertura florestal e recuperação de áreas degradadas.
“A Educação Ambiental trabalha exatamente isso, a transformação da mente das pessoas, para que sejam críticas o suficiente para poder identificar e melhorar problemas do meio ambiente. Poder trabalhar com isso é uma honra e uma missão belíssima”, avalia Juliana Miranda.
A capacitação é oferecida pelo Instituto Terra desde 2005 e já formou mais de 90 técnicos, sendo que desse total, mais de 80% estão atuando em sua área de formação, em suas cidades de origem, em pequenas propriedades de região, principalmente a partir de projetos dos Governos de Minas Gerais e do Espírito Santo na área ambiental.
Em 2008, a iniciativa garantiu ao Instituto Terra a conquista do Prêmio Ford Motor Company de Conservação Ambiental, na categoria Ciência e Formação de Recursos Humanos, pelo envolvimento com a comunidade e, sobretudo, pela proposta responsável de tornar o conhecimento científico acessível a pessoas do campo, que muitas vezes não têm acesso ao estudo formal.
