O Instituto Terra e o Instituto EDP promovem nesta sexta-feira (14), no município de Baixo Guandu, o evento “Proteção e Conservação das Nascentes na Bacia do Rio Guandu”. Na ocasião, serão realizadas duas palestras para os produtores rurais cadastrados no projeto “Doces Nascentes Capixabas”, abertas também a todos os interessados no tema.
Uma das palestras abordará o tema “A Importância da Água na Agricultura” e será ministrada pelo técnico do Instituto Capixaba de Pesquisa, Assistência Técnica e Extensão Rural (Incaper), Ivan Marcelo Lins Nogueira. O evento contará ainda com depoimentos dos produtores beneficiados pelo “Doces Nascentes Capixabas”, projeto do Instituto Terra que tem a Energest (empresa de geração do Grupo EDP) e o Instituto EDP (entidade que reúne as ações socioambientais do Grupo EDP) entre os parceiros.
A partir do projeto, produtores rurais do Baixo Guandu têm sido estimulados, por meio de capacitação, a adotar técnicas sustentáveis no uso do solo, diminuindo o impacto das atividades agrárias e de pecuária nas nascentes dos rios, recebendo ainda insumos para cercamento dos olhos d’água. Como parte integrante das ações previstas no projeto, o Instituto Terra também realiza análises frequentes da água das nascentes protegidas, como forma de mensurar os ganhos obtidos em termos de qualidade e aumento do fluxo hídrico.
Na atual fase do projeto apoiado pela Energest e o Instituto EDP em Baixo Guandu, são 12 produtores participantes e 15 nascentes cadastradas e protegidas. No entanto, esta parceria teve início em 2011, beneficiando no total 29 produtores rurais, seus familiares e a comunidade do entorno. O projeto “Doces Nascentes Capixabas”, com o apoio de diferentes parceiros, já beneficiou até o momento mais de 100 produtores rurais em municípios do Espírito Santo e ajudou a proteger mais de 140 nascentes.
O projeto “Doces Nascentes Capixabas” faz parte do “Olhos D’Água”, programa do Instituto Terra voltado para a revitalização da bacia hidrográfica do Rio Doce e que já soma mais de 1 mil nascentes protegidas ou em processo de recuperaçãoem sete municípios banhados pela bacia, entre os Estados do Espírito Santo e Minas Gerais.
